(LifeSiteNews) – Father James Altman has been called many things, but “dull” is not one of them. He is one of the most outspoken and courageous defenders of the Catholic faith and of unborn children, and LifeSiteNews is delighted that he will join us for our 25th anniversary gala in Toronto on July 18.

LifeSiteNews readers know Fr. Altman as Wisconsin’s attorney-turned-parish-priest who ruffled Democrat feathers when he called Catholics who vote for America’s pro-abortion party to repentance.

“You cannot be Catholic and a Democrat, period,” Altman preached in 2020, and a video sharing his condemnation Democratic Party’s platform as “against everything the Catholic Church teaches” has been viewed thousands of times on YouTube alone.

Unlike many priests, let alone bishops, Altman is not afraid to use strong language and vivid imagery to excoriate such evils as abortion and the coercion of millions of people to take the experimental COVID jabs. He was also, during the so-called COVID emergency, scathing about both Church and state leaders depriving Catholics of their right to attend Mass and access to the sacraments.

Naturally, not everyone was delighted with Altman, and in May 2021, Bishop William P. Callahan of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, demanded his resignation as pastor of the city’s Saint James the Less Catholic Church. Altman responded characteristically.

“I regret to inform you, they want my head on a platter,” he told his congregation. “They want my head now, for speaking the truth. I apparently have created enemies in the hierarchy.”

In July of that year Bishop Callahan issued a decree forbidding Altman to preach. He might as well have ordered the born preacher to stop breathing. Not only did Fr. Altman go on to help found the Coalition of Canceled Priests, he is now a regular speaker and one of the panelists on the weekly LifeSite podcast Faith & Reason.

His audience will not want to miss a chance to chat personally with Fr. Altman at LifeSiteNews’ gala in the Greater Toronto Area this July 18. The gala will feature cocktails and conversation, a sit-down dinner and a live taping of “LifeSite Live.”
