(LifeSiteNews) — U.S. President Joe Biden, a vehement opponent of the pro-life cause despite being a self-professed Catholic, scored the endorsements of three major U.S. abortion groups Friday just before the first anniversary of the June 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson decision that overturned the federal “right” to abortion established in Roe v. Wade.
On Friday morning, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) Pro-Choice America, and EMILY’s List expressed their warm approval of the pro-abortion credentials of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, who have presided over the most pro-abortion administration in U.S. history.
The three pro-abortion groups organized a campaign rally Friday at which Biden vowed to defend abortion even as pro-life lawmakers work to save the lives of preborn babies. Biden also marked the occasion by signing an executive order promoting contraception, LifeSiteNews previously reported.
“There is so much at stake,” said president and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund Alexis McGill Johnson in a Friday statement, claiming that “[a]bortion is health care” and “[w]e need leaders who are committed to protecting our freedoms, not taking them away.”

“We know, clear as day, that if anti-abortion politicians gain control of the White House, they will exploit their power toward their ultimate goal: a national abortion ban,” she said. “That is why we must reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris: people we can trust to keep rebuilding a path forward, because we know the journey to rebuilding our rights will be met with challenges.”
NARAL Pro-Choice America similarly declared they “Won’t Let Extremists Win,” promising to triple donations to help “power the movement for reproductive freedom” and oust pro-life lawmakers.
Likewise, EMILY’s List hailed Biden and Harris for being “vocal advocates for abortion rights across the government and across the country.”
“From fighting in court to working across agencies to offering a budget that would protect abortion rights for everyone, this is the most pro-choice administration we’ve ever seen,” the group said in a statement.
EMILY’s List also spotlighted the anti-life bona fides of Kamala Harris (who was recently ranked the least popular vice president in the history of NBC’s polling), calling her “a steadfast fighter … for women and their abortion rights — a role that is more important than ever before.”
After the victory over Roe v. Wade, pro-life advocates are emphasizing the need to not only establish tough pro-life state laws but also to work toward a national recognition of the personhood of unborn babies under the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The Washington Examiner noted that the endorsements come as the Biden administration and other Democrats seek to curry favor with Americans skeptical of pro-life legislation to score political wins in the 2024 general election.
Recent polling data suggests that a strong majority of Americans in battleground states don’t approve of a nationwide abortion ban. However, additional polling indicates that a clear majority of Americans think abortion should at least be banned by the 15th week of pregnancy.
Since the Dobbs v. Jackson decision that ended Roe v. Wade and returned the regulation of abortion to the states, a total of 14 states have enacted or implemented expansive pro-life laws that ban nearly all abortions while 11 pro-abortion states have moved in the opposite direction.
Other Republican-led states have passed narrower restrictions and regulations, though many pro-life laws are temporarily on hold due to court challenges.
Pro-lifers who gathered at the U.S. Capitol on the anniversary of the overthrow of Roe v. Wade emphasized that the commemoration of the Dobbs decision provides cause for celebration as well as a reminder of the long battle ahead.
