COLD LAKE, Alberta (LifeSiteNews) – With the head of NATO at his side, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bizarrely suggested “climate change,” purportedly affecting the nation’s north, is a threat to national security despite the fact Canada has minimal military presence in the arctic.

Speaking from Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake this past Friday, Trudeau said that Canada’s military might have to change tactics to adapt to the supposedly changing terrain because “it is clear to researchers, military experts, and both the Secretary General and I that climate change is a risk multiplier,” Trudeau said.

“Not only are wildfires and floods increasing aid demands on the CAF, but globally, climate change is raising the risk of conflict. We need to take action to address its impacts on national and international security.”

Trudeau was joined by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who said that “security challenges in the High North are exaggerated by climate change.”

Trudeau then claimed that “climate change is creating greater accessibility to the Arctic.”

The United States and Russia have for years had a military presence in the North Arctic while Canada, despite having a large coastline in the north, has done next to nothing to keep its borders secure.

However, China has increasingly shown interest in further establishing itself in the North Arctic, and has been for some years now building new large icebreaker ships.

Military analyst David J. Bercuson said in an opinion piece last September that Canada simply has not done anything to boost its military presence in the Arctic, which would make sense if a nation wanted to deter aggression from Russia or China.

“In Canada, numerous promises have been made to increase military capability in the North, but little has been accomplished,” wrote Bercuson.

“The Polar-class ship promised by former Prime Minister Stephen Harper has now been pushed back another decade. We continue to fly obsolescent CF-18 fighters from four semi-permanent bases in the Far North and use the decades-old CP-140 Aurora for long-range reconnaissance.”

Real threats from within, says former spy

Trudeau’s claim that Canada is under threat from foreign powers due to climate change also comes despite the fact a former spy revealed that a real true threat to the nation is politicians on the payroll of some foreign governments, which includes China.

Michel Juneau-Katsuya, who is a former chief of the Asia-Pacific desk at Canada’s spy agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, told the House of Commons ethics committee recently that they have had “to monitor parliamentarians.”

“There are elected officials at all levels whether it’s municipal, provincial or federal who are being paid by foreign governments and who are not necessarily acting in the interests of Canada,” Juneau-Katsuya said.

China has also been known to have been meddling in Canadian politics.

Last month, LifeSiteNews reported that an analysis conducted by a federal research unit showed the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) may have tried to influence the outcome of the Canadian 2021 federal election through the spread of disinformation about the Conservative Party of Canada.

Trudeau famously praised China’s “basic dictatorship” in speaking at a Liberal Party fundraising event in 2013, after a reporter asked him which country besides Canada he most admires.

Since taking office in 2015, Trudeau has pushed the radical environmental agenda also being promoted by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as part of its “Great Reset” agenda.

Just last week, LifeSiteNews reported that Trudeau’s Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is looking at building a facility complete with a “firearms storage” and interrogation area to house purported federal enforcers for climate change rules.

This news came only shortly after it was revealed that Trudeau’s federal government employees had been trespassing on farmers’ land in Saskatchewan to take water samples.

This caused outrage from many in the province, including Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, who demanded answers from Trudeau.

In recent months, the government has gone further still. Trudeau, citing “climate change” is looking to implement fertilizer reduction policies in Canada similar to those in Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

Farmers have warned that such radical fertilizer reduction policies will devastate the agricultural industry in Canada, which could lead to possible shortages of food.

LifeSiteNews co-founder and managing director Steve Jalsevac has written extensively on the climate change movement, writing that there is much evidence that it is “the latest and largest-ever-in-history scheme by globalist elites to impose a secularist, anti-life and anti-family New World Order with world governance and removal of all national borders.”

“It would ultimately destroy most of the traditional rights and freedoms and sovereignty of individual nations that have been won at great cost in the past,” wrote Jalsevac.

Indeed, a June 2017 peer-reviewed study by two scientists and a veteran statistician confirmed that most of the recent global warming data have been “fabricated by climate scientists to make it look more frightening.”

Trudeau promised to mandate that Canada would become carbon neutral by 2050, saying to world leaders, “We’ll cap oil and gas sector emissions today and ensure they decrease tomorrow at a pace and scale needed to reach net zero by 2050.”

The Great Reset, as it’s known, is a militant plan created by global elites that “seeks to ‘push the reset button’ on the global economy” and to also create a New World Order with aspects of the Chinese Social Credit System.
