DETROIT (LifeSiteNews) — A pro-life attorney was blindsided during a live television show this week when a pro-abortion guest who self-identifies as a satanist swallowed an abortion pill on-air, sparking sharp criticism even from pro-abortion advocates. Despite being shocked by the gruesome stunt, the pro-life advocate immediately responded by promoting life-saving abortion pill reversal protocols credited with saving thousands of babies.
During a phone interview on Tuesday, Michigan-based pro-life attorney and activist Rebecca Kiessling told LifeSiteNews that she knew she would be pitted against a pro-abortion advocate when she was invited to appear on Fox 2 Detroit’s “Let It Rip” with host Charlie Langton on Sunday.
Asked to discuss the much-anticipated Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case on the docket of the U.S. Supreme Court just after Friday’s 49th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., Kiessling said she expected to engage in debate to defend her pro-life stance but wasn’t prepared for who her opponent was or the crass stunt she planned to perform.
The guest chosen to defend the pro-abortion side was Jex Blackmore, a self-described satanist who founded of the Detroit chapter of The Satanic Temple, an organization designed to undermine religious liberty and subvert traditional morality.
While still identifying herself as a satanist, however, the activist is no longer a member of The Satanic Temple.
In 2018 she was booted from the group following a scene in the documentary “Hail Satan?” in which she announced, “We are going to disrupt, distort, destroy … We are going to storm press conferences, kidnap an executive, release snakes in the governor’s mansion, execute the president.”
According to Religion News, “The Satanic Temple insisted her appearance (and incendiary rhetoric) wasn’t formally sanctioned by TST, and it has since severed ties with Blackmore,” leading Blackmore to claim that the satanists had been infiltrated by white supremacists.
During her television appearance on Sunday alongside Kiessling, the fired spokeswoman for the satanist organization promoted the use of chemical abortion drugs such as mifepristone, which have seen widespread use in the U.S. Last year, the Biden administration lifted restrictions on prescribing and sending abortion drugs through the mail.
While describing how “easy” and “private” it is to kill an unborn child by taking abortion-inducing drugs, the activist swallowed an abortion pill on-air in the middle of the interview, stating, “this will end a pregnancy,” and adding, “This is my third abortion.”
It’s unclear whether the abortion proponent was actually pregnant at the time of the interview, or that the pill she took was actually an abortion-inducing drug.

Kiessling, who told LifeSiteNews she was shocked by the stunt and the callousness with which it was performed, responded in the moment by shaking her head in disbelief, then going on with the interview by speaking about women who have taken abortion pills only to experience horrible pain and trauma.
“There’s no dignity in losing your baby screaming in your bathroom and going through contractions and having to scoop up” the murdered baby’s body “off the bathroom floor,” Kiessling said, blasting the abortion advocate’s claim that use of the drug is safe and easy.
In a January 25 YouTube video, prominent pro-life activist Abby Johnson called the incident “evil” and “extremely disturbing,” noting that the exploit actually flies in the face of much of the abortion industry’s previous messaging insisting that abortion is a “delicate” and “difficult” decision for women to make.
“This is just yet another example of the hypocrisy of the abortion lobby, of the abortion industry. They cannot get their talking points together,” Johnson said. “Abortion’s not something to joke about,” even if a person is pro-abortion.

For her part, during the TV segment on Sunday Kiessling further redirected the conversation by pointing out that many women regret taking the abortion pill, and that the deadly drug can actually be reversed if addressed in time.
According to proponents, the Abortion Pill Reversal protocol boasts a 64-68% success rate. The process, which uses the FDA-approved drug progesterone to block the lethal effects of the abortion drugs, has been credited with saving more than 2,000 babies thus far despite facing challenges from pro-abortion advocates and censorship by big tech organizations.
Meanwhile, Blackmore’s stunt appears to have failed to generate the response evidently intended.
Kiessling told LifeSite that the show’s host, Charlie Langton, reached out to her after the interview to let her know that the network has been hit with a deluge of critical responses. According to Kiessling, Langton told her most of the “hate mail” came from abortion proponents blasting the self-described satanist for the stunt and slamming the show for allowing it to occur.
Regardless, Kiessling said she was shaken by her opponent’s apparent willingness to casually end a life.
A staunch defender of the unborn, Kiessling, who was conceived in rape and has experienced deep personal trauma including the tragic loss of her son, said once the TV segment ended she broke down in tears. She has subsequently endured on-going harassment from pro-abortion activists on social media who have mocked her and made fun of the tragedies she has endured.
“It reminds me of the old vampire movies where you have someone who holds up a crucifix and then the vampire shrieks and they can’t handle having truth held up in front of them,” Kiessling told LifeSite. “And I feel like that’s what we’re going to be seeing more and more of: these shrieks from the demonic forces as truth comes out more and more. As we hold up the truth.”
“We need to just continue and be strong in holding up the truth, like the priest with the crucifix,” she added.
In a Facebook post published after Sunday’s interview, Kiessling also expressed her hope that Blackmore would consider following the abortion pill reversal protocol.
“Please pray … pray for Jax Blackmore to have a change of heart and do the abortion pill reversal, pray for her baby, pray for us all, pray to end abortion,” she wrote.
Blackmore’s use of abortion pills as a publicity stunt is not original.
The disturbing gimmick comes after activists allegedly took abortion pills outside the U.S. Supreme Court building in December while the justices heard oral arguments in the Dobbs v. Jackson case which concerns Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks gestation.
A decision in favor of Mississippi could result in the reversal of the federal “right to abortion” established in the Court’s controversial Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, sending the matter of abortion back to the states.
Pro-life advocates have pointed out that even if Roe were overturned, the fight to protect the unborn is not over. In a post-Roe nation, stopping the widespread distribution of abortion-inducing drugs is likely to become the next battleground for the pro-life movement.
